1. Process
1. Apply base coat → Prepare waterproof mortar layer → Arrange tiles and draw lines → Mix tile adhesive → Lay tiles
II. Selection of Waterproof Mortar and Tile Adhesive
The waterproof mortar uses Mabe Elastic Waterproof Mortar 331, and the tile adhesive uses Aihetao C2 grade TC-33 tile adhesive.
III. Construction Methods
The construction should be carried out on the already plastered base layer. The plaster layer must be firm, clean and have a flatness of no more than 2mm.
2. Prepare the waterproof mortar layer
First, wet the plaster layer with water. Then, mix the A and B components of Ma Bei Elastic Waterproof Mortar 331 in the mixing bucket according to the instructions. Use a low-speed electric mixer to stir until it becomes a paste-like consistency. Then, apply it in 1-2 layers with a trowel. One set of waterproof mortar (32KG) can be used to cover an area of 12-15 square meters. The waterproof mortar should not be too thick as it may affect the adhesion of the tiles. Allow the waterproof mortar to cure for more than 7 days before applying the tiles.
3. Arrange the tiles and draw the chalk lines
Re-measure the wall surface, lay out the bricks on the wall, and then draw the chalk lines.
4. Mix the tile adhesive
The water-to-powder ratio is approximately 1:4. First, pour water into the mixing bucket, then add the tile adhesive powder. Use a low-speed electric mixer to stir until the mixture is uniform and free of lumps, and let it stand for 5 minutes. Then stir again to make it uniform before using.
5. Tile Laying
The water curtain stones are laid horizontally from bottom to top. The bricks are laid without any gaps horizontally and with a 2mm gap vertically. They are positioned using 2mm cross-shaped adhesive beads.
Use a scraper to apply the tile adhesive to the wall. Spread it thinly and evenly. Each application covers approximately 1 square meter. After applying the adhesive to the back of the tiles and pressing them onto the wall, gently tap each tile in the middle and at both ends with a wooden handle to make them stick firmly.
